The Application of the Passive House standard to Health Care Facilities: Lessons Learned from a Feasibility Study and a Post Occupancy Evaluation
Ghazal Ebrahimi & Alex Hutton, Fraser Health Authority

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) has been looking for ways to build facilities that perform beyond LEED Gold, which is the provincial mandate in BC. As part of this effort, a Passive House feasibility study was conducted for a residential care facility in Vancouver. The results of this study will be discussed and energy, carbon, and cost related findings will be compared with a LEED Gold scenario. The presenters will also explain how a post occupancy evaluation of another of VCH’s Passive House facility helped the organization to recognize other co-benefits of Passive House such as occupants’ health and future climate adaptation.

Panelists: Marianne Touchie, Kady Cowan
